How I Almost Went to Jail in Ibiza, April 21, 2016
That afternoon, we headed to San Antoni de Portmany on the western coast of Ibiza in our rented Panda, allegedly the best place on the island to watch the sunset. We figured we could get in some party time/dinner and drinks as well, only to find out that Ibiza, the whole entire island, turns into a ghost town in the winter months (minus a few places). The clubs and lounges close for remodeling....I'm assuming that the interior gets completely trashed during the crazy party months and they have to patch up the holes in the walls and reupholster the furniture....I'm making this up but it's my best guess.
Reflecting. Coastal Walk from Bondi to Coogee Beach in Australia 2015
My highlight reel from 2015. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it.
You never know what you'll find on the streets. And if you happen to be a traveling like me, that's doubly true. I've had the good fortune to shoot all over the world, and when I see something interesting, I'm always reminded of how incredible and different people are. The international street scene is, for lack of a better word, unique. It's diverse and probably not what you imagine when you think, "street scene", but it intrigues me. So I started posting a series of street scene photos on Instagram (@greeneyedvenuist) and people love it....and that's my goal. I want you to love it just as much as I do.
So I created this album to showcase some of my favorite street scenes that I've captured during my travels. This is nothing that I've done professionally or anything, just real life moments captured by me with my trusty, old- school Rebel, probably when I was wandering around somewhere. I hope you enjoy it....I did.
I'm an attorney...but not so secretly, I'm a travel fanatic. As I was trying to figure out a good name for my blog, I recalled the word "venue". For those in the legal profession, venue is defined as a place in which events giving rise to a legal action occur. An attorney would request a change of venue to get their client a fair trial. But then, when you look at the suffix "-ist" it denotes an adherent to certain principles, a person who is concerned with or practices something specific, is an advocate for a certain system or thing or perhaps is an expert in a certain thing. So, I created the term, "venuist" - and I like to think of it as a person who is an adherent to the idea that one should travel, is concerned with changing venues, practices the act of traveling and is an expert in that field. I am an advocate of traveling and exploration, maybe not an expert but, I'm constantly seeking new destinations. So, being a venuist is an attitude or behavior that involves, but is not limited to, gaining an advantage by travel, any advantage, and there are many. If nothing else, it makes you a better person. And....there you have it, Iβm a venuist with insatiable wanderlust, a fire inside me that cannot be extinguished and only grows with each journey. With this blog, I will share with you my green-eyed experience...and throughout this journey, hopefully I can truly become an expert.
