It can take HOURS to get to any destination in Costa Rica. For example, the drive from Puerto Viejo to San Jose is a solid 5 hours, if not more, with traffic. And there will be traffic.

Recently, I've gotten a lot of questions about Costa Rica. It's become an increasingly more popular destination for travelers. I'll start off with a summary of my itinerary from when I traveled there in 2011.
During the 2010 Winter Olympics, Whistler hosted most of the alpine, Nordic, luge, skeleton, and bobsled events.
It's also less than 2 hours drive from Vancouver. Of course, when we realized how close it was, we had to figure out how to get there. We planned to rent a car and drive there early Sunday morning. And that's just what we did.
3 day weekends are a gift from God wrapped up in the most delightful paper with bows and ribbons and when you open it up, it's filled with friends, sleeping in late, brunch, rooftop parties, beaches and sunshine.
In Ibiza, we realized that to have any meaningful exploration, we needed a car. The clubs and everything else notable are spread out across the island. But to drive a car in Ibiza, and I'm sure in other foreign countries, you need an international drivers license.
Among the four of us and all our stuff, we were prepared to do anything from run the world to birth a baby, yet none of us had the foresight to obtain a foreign drivers license. It's safe to say that none of us had ever heard of such.
Dubai is dusty.....it's also hot, like stifling, you can't take deep breaths type of heat. The, it's 100 degrees at night type of heat.
I definitely cannot hang like I used to.
It is quite evident that I am over 30. I've found some really long grey hairs in my head...they're the full length of the rest of my hairs. It's kinda creepy.
Ok, that's an exaggeration. I didn't almost go to jail in Ibiza....but I could have.
Alright, it's been about a month since I left for Spain, I am sufficiently over the jet lag, regrettably settled back into the normality of my daily routine, my laptop has been restored to greatness....to sum it all up, my life has been gathered and I'm ready to tell you about my trip.
Keeping up with this blogging schedule situation is a mess. It's hard to manage being a Christian, an attorney, with a moderate social life and blogging...I tell you. But I do it because I love it and that's the honest to goodness truth. I really love telling my stories.
So this begs the question....what do I do, if anything? Do I forego this super cheap flight and buy another one on an airline that doesn't go anywhere near Turkey (especially since this layover in Istanbul adds hours of unnecessary travel time and considering the turmoil in its neighboring country, Syria)? Or do I do nothing and keep my original plans?
Not only were the bathrooms filthy, there was only one toilet. The other stall had a squat hole (if you've read my posts from China you know how I feel about a squat hole) and there were only like 5 sheets of toilet paper left to divide among the three of us.
